New Podcast: Fairport Forward
Fairport Office of Community and Economic Development (OCED) is pleased to announce a new podcast, Fairport Forward, which is taking a deeper dive into community feedback that was received as part of our Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) grant application process. Each week we will explore a theme that emerged directly from YOUR comments!
In our first episode of Fairport Forward, hosts Johnna McCooey and Amy Olds introduce the podcast and explain why they wanted to start this series now — before any grant decision — so the community’s ideas and feedback don’t stay buried in a spreadsheet. This episode highlights key themes that emerged from public engagement events, including what people love most about Fairport, what’s behind the 'Fairport Feeling,' and how we can honor what people love while planning responsibly for the future.
Keep Fairport Athletes Moving Over the Holiday Break
During the holiday break, keep your young athlete game-ready, not rusty.
For most young athletes in Fairport, the holiday break means two weeks with no school, no practice, and a lot of sitting around. That’s great for rest. It’s not great for speed, strength, or confidence.
While some athletes head out of town or take two full weeks off, your son or daughter can use that same time to get faster, stronger, and more explosive – and show up in January ahead of the competition.
FIT | STRENGTH Performance and the Turf Barn are teaming up to offer Holiday Break Speed & Strength options for athletes who want to stay active and game-speed ready.
Holiday Break Speed Camp @ The Turf Barn:
Who: Athletes who want to run faster, move better, and stay sharp
Where: Turf Barn (indoor turf facility)
Time: All sessions at 12:00 PM (Noon)
Dates:
Monday 12/22
Tuesday 12/23
Friday 12/26
Monday 12/29
Wednesday 12/31
Investment:
==> $129 for all sessions
Athletes will work on:
- Sprint mechanics and acceleration
- First-step quickness
- Change of direction and game-speed movement
- Confidence with and without the ball
2-Week Speed & Strength Options at FIT | STRENGTH Performance:
For athletes who want even more focused training, FIT | STRENGTH is also offering 2-week sports performance packages during the Holiday Break:
4-session package
6-session package
8-session package
These sessions focus on:
- Strength training that supports speed and jumping
- Injury-mitigation for knees, hips, and ankles
- Plyometrics and power work tailored to age and sport
- Simple, clear coaching in a small-group environment
If you’d like to keep your athlete active, off the couch, and ahead of opponents who are taking two weeks off, this is a simple way to do it.
To claim a spot in the Turf Barn Speed Camp or a 2-week package at FIT | STRENGTH, text: 585-627-0963
Please feel free to share this with Fairport families, local teams, and anyone with an athlete who wants to hit the ground running after the Holiday Break.
Happy Holidays, from FIT | STRENGTH Owner Mark Bruce!

5 IT Priorities for Small Businesses in 2026
As we head into 2026, technology isn’t just a support function — it’s a core driver of growth and resilience. For small businesses, that means shifting from “fixing problems” to building a strategic technology plan.
1. Move Beyond the Help Desk - Shift from reactive fixes to a proactive IT strategy that plans ahead, reduces downtime, and aligns technology with your business goals.
2. Treat IT as a Growth Engine - View technology as an investment. Modernizing and consolidating systems boosts efficiency, improves customer experience, and reduces long-term costs.
3. Build a Foundation for AI & Automation - AI is now practical for small businesses, but it requires secure networks, reliable connectivity, and strong data management to work safely and effectively.
4. Strengthen Cyber Resilience - With threats rising, focus on continuous monitoring, layered security, employee training, and solid backup and recovery plans to stay prepared.
5. Simplify Your Tech Stack - Too many disconnected tools slow businesses down. Consolidating into integrated platforms lowers costs and improves productivity.
Modern IT — when aligned with business goals — drives growth, reduces risk, and strengthens long-term success. Just Solutions helps businesses move from “help desk” support to true technology partnership.
Understanding the Different Types of Long-Term Care in New York
As individuals age or experience changes in health, choosing the right level of care becomes a critical decision, for both quality of life and financial security. In New York, long-term care options range from independent senior living to skilled nursing facilities. Each provides a different level of support, care, and cost. Understanding these distinctions, and planning ahead with the help of an experienced elder law attorney can make a significant difference in both comfort and financial outcomes.
