Fairport High School’s Career Exploration Center Named Business of the Month

The Fairport-Perinton community is known for its cohesiveness, which you can find evidence of through the Fairport-Perinton Chamber of Commerce. Annually, the Village, Town, and Schools jointly present to a crowd of over 100 attendees. The Career Exploration Center, housed in the high school, is an active member of the Chamber. And, the Superintendent participates in Chamber events as well. This month, The Career Exploration Center has been named the Chamber Business of the Month.

Michael McConville, Amy Varel, and Dan Williford presented to the annual membership meeting, issues related to business succession planning.  Dan presented first, discussing the positives, but also the many pitfalls of continuing to work without a succession plan in place, particularly how it will affect the administration of your estate.  Amy presented next, highlighting legal options that exist in order to transition your business effectively to the next generation, including buy/sell agreements.  Mike closed the presentation by discussing the difficulties that clients face when deciding who is best equipped to take over a business and the psychological hurdles business owners experience when choosing a successor.  Mike provided many personal anecdotes from client circumstances drawing from his over 35 years of legal practice.
