Building Future Athletes: The GRIT Program at FIT | STRENGTH Performance
FIT | STRENGTH Performance in Fairport, our Chamber member, has been helping athletes develop strength, speed, and confidence since 2019. This fall, they’re launching the next round of their GRIT Program—a six-week training experience designed specifically for young athletes ages 7 to 10.
GRIT stands for Growth, Resilience, Intensity, and Tenacity—four traits that set the foundation for long-term athletic success.
Who It’s For
GRIT is built for kids who are active, love sports, and are ready to take their athletic ability to the next level. Whether they’re just starting out or already involved in youth sports, this program gives them the tools to move better, build coordination, and gain strength in a supportive environment.
What Problems It Solves
Today’s young athletes face two big challenges:
Lack of fundamental movement skills. Many kids skip this crucial stage, jumping straight into organized sports without the coordination or strength base to perform well and stay injury-free.
Low confidence in athletic settings. Without a chance to build physical competence early, many kids get frustrated or discouraged.
GRIT solves both by focusing on quality movement, body control, and fun, creating an experience where athletes develop both skill and self-belief.
The Benefits
Over six weeks, athletes will:
- Improve speed, balance, and strength.
- Build coordination and body control that carry over into all sports.
- Develop confidence by learning new skills in a small group setting.
- Lay the foundation for long-term athletic development.
Classes run Monday through Thursday, and athletes can choose any 2 sessions per week. The program begins October 6 and runs for six weeks.
How to Try It
There are two free GRIT trial sessions on September 24 and October 1 from 7–7:50 PM. Parents can text GRIT to 585-627-0963 to reserve a spot and learn more details.
If your child loves sports and is ready to build their athletic foundation the right way, this is where to start.
Common Issues Home Buyers Face in a Seller’s Market
Since COVID, the residential real estate market in Rochester has trended in favor of sellers. It is not uncommon to have a house to sell for tens, even hundreds of thousands of dollars over the initial list price. In an effort to ‘win’ the battle to buy a home in this seller’s market, many buyers are doing things that most attorneys would advise against. Our Chamber member McConville Considine Cooman and Morin composed an article with an overview of these related issues and have made recommendations to buyers, adding protection for themselves in the current seller’s market. Get Prepared for Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2025
Every October, Cybersecurity Awareness Month highlights the basics—strong passwords, multifactor authentication, and scam awareness. But in 2025, the stakes are higher.
AI is making attacks easier to launch, outdated systems are exposing businesses, and employees are still sharing sensitive information without oversight. This year, it’s about resilience.
Use October as a checkpoint: review your policies and identify where your defenses need reinforcement.
Our Chamber member Just Solutions helps businesses move beyond the basics with training, monitoring, and compliance support. Make cybersecurity an ongoing practice, not just a campaign.
Explore their blog for practical steps to strengthen your defenses this October and beyond.
Digital Assets and Estate Planning: Why They Matter Under New York Law
More and more of our personal and financial lives exist online. Photographs, social media accounts, email, online banking, cryptocurrency, business websites, and loyalty rewards are all part of what estate planners now call digital assets. These assets can have real financial and/or sentimental value, but without planning, families and fiduciaries may face major obstacles in accessing or managing them after death or incapacity.
