Jerry Grundman of the Brand Builder Company will discuss Building Your Local Brand – is it time to re-examine your approach to social media?

If you are doing business in Rochester NY, you probably understand that there's an audience available to you in the social media market space. But like many people, you fear that attempts to interact with this audience could be a drain on your limited time and resources. And even if you do commit the resources... what exactly should you be doing?

One of the most critical pieces of the social media networking puzzle is staying fresh and current with your content and information. Not unlike your company website, your business must stay relevant by publishing new content regularly – articles, blog posts, tweets, LinkedIn update, Facebook status and notes, videos, pictures, links, etc.

It’s simply not enough to jump into the social media ring and then sit idle. In order to be successful, you need to create a social networking editorial calendar - or something else to be sure you're consistent with your effort. Although this might sound complicated, it’s really nothing more than making to plan for what you'll be saying and when.

The Chamber’s membership meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from 7:30am to 8:45am at Towpath Café in Fairport. It is our pleasure to present guest speaker Stephen J. Meyer, Vice President & Regional Insurance Coordinator with M&T Investment Group.Mr. Meyer will discuss “BusinessKillers”, an innovative program that has been helping business owners across the country properly protect and preserve their assets for almost 10 years. The presentation will focus on crucial topics like: Estate Planning, Buy/Sell Agreements, Disability, Tax Strategies, etc. The goal is to utilize appropriate planning – by qualified professionals – to prevent an unforeseen event from compromising your business and future.

State of the Town/Village

On January 25th, 2012, the Fairport/Perinton Chamber will be presenting the state of the town of Perinton and the state of the village of Fairport. This presentation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm with a lunch buffet at the Burgundy Basin. The presentations will be given by the Town of Perinton Supervisor Jim Smith and The Mayor of Fairport Fritz May. The cost for the event (including lunch) will be $20.00 for Chamber members and $25.00 for non-members.

The 2012 Fleet Feet Firecracker Five Mile

Join this yearly tradition on Wednesday, July 4th at 8am! This 5 Mile course begins near Whitney and O'Connor Rd, taking you right onto Turk Hill Rd, then left up Cobbs Lane next to the Erie Canal. Turning around on Cobb's Lane then left back onto Turk Hill Rd, followed by a right onto 31F taking you over the hustle and bustle of the crowd at 250 and 31F, over the Erie Canal and right up the little incline on O'Connor Rd towards Perinton Park.

Awards are given for:

Top 3 Male & Female: Cash Prizes courtesy of Fleet Feet Sports. 1st = $100, 2nd = $75, 3rd = $50. Top 3 in following Age Groups: 14 under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and up.

Registration is $18 by 6/6/12, or $20 between 6/7 - 7/3, or $25 on the day off. Registration includes chip timing and a post-race feast for all participants. Register by June 6th to receive a Technical T-Shirt. The next 300 registrants will receive a cotton t-shirt. Remember, all shirt sizing is on a first come, first served basis so register early. Race day registration CLOSES 7:45AM SHARP.

After completing the Firecracker Five Mile, enjoy the 4th of July parade in celebration of the Bicentennial! The parade begins on Whitney Road and ends at Perinton Park, where the community, friends, and family gather for the annual Party in the Park featuring live music and food vendors. See you there!
