December, 2017

Since 2008, Castro has been a practicing financial advisor.  Over the years, she has earned the designation of Certified Financial Planner as well as the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst credential.  Along with providing her clients with comprehensive financial planning and asset management, including retirement, cash flow and insurance analysis, Katie has developed an expertise working with people experiencing divorce.  Castro helps her clients navigate the divorce settlement process and navigate finances post-divorce.  She also co-facilitates monthly divorce workshops sponsored by the Foundation for Women’s Financial Education.  Additionally, her specialties also include elder transition.  She recently founded The Advisory Panel on Successful Aging (APSA), through which she serves the community as a panelist, speaking on topics of elder care transition, needs of care takers, finances for chronic care, and many related challenges elder transitions entail.  Higher education funding, debt management and savings strategies are areas of expertise she offers to her clients, as well.

In addition to her very active professional role, Katie is a mother of four, including twins, prior Wayne County foster parent and serves her community.  She is the Vice President of the Chamber, Chair of the Membership Committee, Girl Scout Co-Leader, PTA Community Chair, and actively participates on multiple PTA committees and in Penfield youth sports.  “We are thankful she carves out time for our Chamber,” exclaimed Kellie Wright, her colleague and Chamber Committee member!
